There's a kind of hush all over the world tonight by Joe Harwell

If you are old enough to remember these lyrics, you are a child of the 1950′, 60’s or both.  Music has defined events in my life and creates wonderful memories as I tend to listen to classic rock when I’m not listening to NPR.

I was recently reminded of these lyrics for a not so obvious reason when I was asked to read of a manuscript by Philip Catshill, a novelist friend in the UK.  The UK?  Wow, writing really has brought me friends from all corners of the world.  Thanks to Twitter and Facebook, I have writer friends and readers from all over Europe, Australia, South America and other cool places.  Imagine, little old me doing a read through for a writer friend in the UK.  Serious WOW for me.

Now, about those lyrics.  Regardless if we write action/adventure, sci-fi fantasy, paranormal, murder mystery or vampire stories, love has to figure into it somewhere.  It certainly runs through my writing at many levels and makes my stories fun to write.  Think about where and how love changes the dynamics of your writing.  I know it does, because I’ve read or listened to your work.

I’ve had one great romantic love in my life and I have love for and from my kids, grandchildren and a growing circle of friends.  Will there be another great romantic love in my live?  I’m sure of it.  So, here are the lyrics from A Kind of Hush which I hope will send you to Youtube for the 1967 version by Herman’s Hermits or the 1976 version from The Carpenters.  Enjoy, love, live and write something spectacular today.

There’s a kind of hush all over the world tonight. All over the world you can hear the sounds of lovers in love. You know what I mean. Just the two of us and nobody else in sight. There’s nobody else and I’m feeling good just holding you tight.
